Why External Recruiters Actually Don’t Suck

Some time ago I was recommended by our in-house sourcer at InspHire, Olga Kravets, to read Katrina Collier’s book “The Robot-Proof Recruiter: A Survival Guide for Recruitment and Sourcing Professionals“. One of the things that stuck with me the most was the fact that if you take a look at the results you get when you run a search for “recruiters” on Google – let’s just say, in the words of the brilliant Chandler Bing: “In my next life, I’m coming back as a toilet brush!” It made me think about how bad the situation for external recruiters must be — and I was surprised (not) to find that the situation is even worse.

Then again, I have encountered numerous situations where candidates felt the need to share their previous bad experiences with external recruiters. The recruiting industry has a few bad apples no doubt about that, just like every other industry, and I believe many of us have had similar experiences whether as a candidate or as an internal recruiter. That’s why our mission at InspHire is always to ensure that we build truly personal added value for our candidates by doing an amazing job and making sure they know we’ll do an amazing job.

Why Companies Collaborate With External Recruiters

Our job is to make candidates understand that especially in the tech industry, which is pretty fast-paced and dynamic, in-house recruiters are using external recruiters because they can’t keep up with the workload and demand. Just Think about it. If you send your resume directly to the company — let’s say to [email protected] — you have to understand that your resume is amongst hundreds of other resumes that Cadabra recruiters do not have the manpower to go through!

We Have The Best Shortcuts

Every once in a while we hear this comment from candidates: “Oh yeah I know that position! I submitted my resume a while ago but no one got back to me”. This is where we shine! We can help you to be seen. We are the middlewomean to that one specific and scary busy recruiter that makes the decisions. And you know what the best thing is? We get to follow up! Because we have direct contact and a relationship with the company. We can just hit up the recruiter in charge and say: “Hey, you forgot about Harry Potter’s resume. You do know he is the most powerful wizard the world has ever seen right?”. And just like that, you’ll get a front-of-the-line pass.****

Our Advocacy and Negotiation Skills Are On-Point Baby

You can not find a better advocate, confidant, or negotiator than external recruiters. We know every aspect of our client’s process, from the interview process to salary negotiations. We always know exactly who our client is looking for and his expectations. Therefore, you can ask us all the questions you’re scared to ask the company directly, consult us about all your concerns and doubts, and most importantly, we are always happy to share all that inside information with our candidates to give you that little secret advantage.

So now you tell me, do we really suck?
