How to Get Prepared for Your Next Job Interview: Crucial Tips from InspHire Team

You can either love them or hate them, but interviews are an essential part of the recruitment process. We at InspHire conduct HR interviews with the candidates every day and know exactly what our clients expect during professional interviews. Here are some crucial tips which will help you to get ready for your next job interview.

Research Your Prospective Employer

Spend a couple of hours finding out as much as you can about not only the job, but also about the company. Read not only its website and social media, but also look for the articles in media, try to find annual reports, interviews with employees and top managers. It will help you to get a broader picture of the company and you’ll be ready to talk about why you would love to work there and what you can do for them.

Spend some time on social media, and look for the pages of current employees. It will help you not only to find more information about your potential employer, its projects, and campaigns but also about the company’s culture. You can also find profiles of people you’ll have the interview with and learn more about their interests and personality.

The more you know before the interview, the more confident you are.

Ask Questions Before the Interview

To get prepared for your interview in a proper way, ask as many questions before it as you can. What the interview will be about, who will be your interviewer, what is expected from you, how much will it last, and so on. According to that you can plan your preparation and define your selling points.

Identify your selling points for this job

Even if you have job interviews every week, it is critical to spend time thinking about your soft and hard skills, accomplishments, and information about your experience that should be highlighted for this particular position. Write down all your selling points before the interview and think about examples for each of them.

Be yourself

It may sound obvious, but many people try to get jobs so hard that they start to pretend to be other people. It is a bad strategy because sooner or later your lie will be revealed. That’s why recruiters appreciate honesty so much. So just be yourself, but be confident in what you say.

If You Have A Video Interview: Checklist

  • Test any needed tech before the interview
  • Look into the camera during the interview, not at the monitor
  • Set up the appropriate (but real!) background: find a minimalistic background in your home with minimum distracting details
  • Ensure that your camera is well positioned: put your laptop on some books or a box so you look equally at your interviewers
  • Prepare treats for your dogs to make sure they won’t bark
  • Put your phone away to not be distracted by push notifications
  • Smile!
